Routines, Technology, and Disney Characters

Sometimes the life of a retiree can be just plain routine. That's what this week was all about. Just routine. Several loads of laundry were done and put away; groceries were brought home to the cupboards; bell practice was attended; music for tomorrow morning was prepared; my Sunday School lesson is ready to go; and the usual house cleaning got done--well, cleaning the floors is no longer the old routine.

A few years ago hubby bought me an iRobot Roomba. It will sweep my floors while I dust, do laundry, fix a meal, whatever other jobs need doing, OR it will work while I goof off! Here it is in action. (Okay, so after a dozen tries, I could not get the videos to upload. Later this month when we are away from this dial-up stuff, I'll give it another try.)

The second video shows Roomba docking itself. It does this when its battery is low, when the floor is clean, or when I say, "Roomba! Dock!" Just kidding. Though it does tell me when to clean its brushes, it has no voice sensor of its own. I push the "dock" button to send it to its charger.

One other thing that is not routine is Halloween. Two of our gkids came down to show us their costumes last night. Creed was Tigger, and Kady was Tinkerbell. We think they looked so cute! They love their gpa, but Creed was not liking the camera!
