FIVE YEARS!! It seems impossible that so much time has passed since I retired from teaching. Of course, I've done some substituting along the way, but this week was the first since last spring--and I'm here two days back to back. I'm so out of shape that it's pitiful. At home I've become accustomed to taking a break between jobs--and those I do as quickly or slowly as I please. Not at school! It's one class right into another with one break in the morning (a prep period to grade papers or prepare for the next classes) and the break for lunch.
In addition, for this teacher I'm climbing four flights of stairs 3-4 times a day. Wow! This morning I wasn't sure I was going to make it the last half-flight from the basement (art room). I know. I'm a panty-waist. I'm also OLD!! After one day (yesterday), I had an awful time answering the alarm this morning. From now on I'll have to space my teaching days better--or just resign from subbing altogether! Hubby says, "Sometimes, aging is the pits!"
