And the Busyness Continues

I left Bob & Melanie's on Wednesday afternoon to drive to our church district camp and conventions. On Thursday was the church district assembly to which I was a delegate. Two big decisions were to be made by the voting delegates: selection of delegates to next year's general assembly in Orlando and a decision on what to do with the campground as it continues to cost the district big bucks.

The delegates were chosen after about 4-5 ballots. Bill has gone as a delegate to the '01 and '05 assemblies in Indianapolis. I got to go along and was very interested in the business being conducted in the world-wide church. Both Bill and Chris were on the ballot this year. I was wishing that Chris would get to go. Anita has always wanted to go to Disney World anyway. What a great opportunity! Well, neither of them were elected.

Bill is an alternate delegate to the SSDMI general convention and is on the ballot for NMI. That will be decided upon tomorrow at the district convention. While I hate for him to not be elected (a status thing, I guess), I'd really rather be in Colorado come mid-June, 2009.

The campground issue discussion began late morning and continued after lunch. First the questions people had about how we got to this point, then delegates who spoke for/against the motion, and finally a call for the question. This campground which is a real sentimental place for many will be put on the market within the next year or so. An era has come to a close.
