Mad Dash

Our Navy son and his family had just one week of vacation. They traveled by car with three kids from CT to Niagara Falls for a couple of days and then on to Chicago and sight-seeing there. (Ah, I remember days of traveling from IL to CO with three kids! Fun, fun!) Anyway, time would not permit them to travel four more hours to our place and still do the fun things they could find in the Windy City. Therefore, we headed north to our daughter and son-in-law's place to spend a bit of time with them all. How great to see them! The grandkids were having such a ball together, and the adults were having so many laughs--just needed to be careful not to crack a joke while our daughter had her mouth full! It would have been great to have CJ and AG with their two sweeties here as well.

SOMEONE in the crowd had a DQ attack after the little ones were in bed. Orders were taken after which hubby and son-in-law were commissioned to make the run. Upon return UNLABELED blizzard flavors were distributed--well, I tasted three before I had my heath--and we all enjoyed the wonderful dessert--except our lactose-intolerant eldest son.

We just sent the three guys off to the golf course. In my opinion, there is something very wrong with a sport that gets people up at 5:30 on Saturday morning. Really, can three guys rise, prepare, and leave the house quietly? EL told them, "If you wake the boys, they are going with you!"

This afternoon when the crowd heads to Chicago for more sight-seeing fun, we "elderly" parents/grandparents will return to the flood-threatened river bottoms. We need to be home for duties at church on Sunday.
