Eldest Grandson

The flooding of the Mississippi has wreaked havoc in people's lives in our area. Though our levees are still holding the river back, the bridge at Louisiana, MO, has been closed on the IL side due to its low approach. That means that many from this part of IL who work in MO have two choices: drive 40 miles north to cross at Hannibal, MO, or stay the week on the MO side.

The latter was the choice of our eldest grandson's mother. Therefore, Kodi stayed with us this week. He is now 16 years old and has grown up quite a bit since we had a chance to spend much time with him. His conversation now includes more adult topics than just the latest movies or video games, neither of which are topics with which I'm familiar. He actually enjoyed it when we played a game that was NOT electronic! I was very impressed when he kept his room picked up, cleaned up his dishes after a meal, volunteered to walk to the post office for our mail, and actually made his bed before he left the last day!

As a teenager, Kodi has other interests and seldom visits the "old folks", so it was nice to have him spend a few days with us.

I love your blog! Yay for blogs! =) It sounds like you guys have been very busy these last few weeks. I’ve enjoyed catching up. I can’t believe Kodi is 16 – where has the time gone?

Hope you guys have a great Sunday!
