Heading Home

This is our last day in Colorado for this time. It's been really great. The first week we had a blast with the Davises. This last week hubby has worked many hours to catch up on work he couldn't do while he was waiting for and setting up his new laptop. Oh, yes--also making up the entire day that he and Rich went fly-fishing! They fell hard for that sport, it seems.

A routine developed this week while we were alone here. My sweetie would work from early morning till mid-afternoon, and then we would take off for a walk on the riverwalk downtown, a
drive in the country, or some looking around downtown. Sometimes we would come back here for a bite of supper or grab something in town. In the evening we would watch FOX NEWS CHANNEL or maybe a movie while we watched the birds at our feeders near the patio. (Oh, my goodness! We have crossed over into the land of elderly bird feeders/watchers!)

We have been visiting Colorado together since our first trip in 1971, and I had been coming here with my parents before that. Still, I had never been up the one-way, gravel Fall River pass or seen the alleuvian falls up that way. The latter is a fantastic sight. Right now the gravel road is closed, but we plan to get up there in August. We hope some of our summer visitors will go along.

I love the roar of the Big Thompson along the riverwalk. I love the mountain views. I love waking up some mornings with no cloud in the blue, blue sky and the mountains rising up so majestic with snow on the highest peaks. Unfortunately, we must go back to the routines of home and work; well, my poor sweetie has to work. I'm retired, you remember.

So this last day involved some last minute sightseeing and shopping, a stop at the photo shop, a couple of yard sales, laundry, cleaning, packing. We head east on the bike in early morning.
