Thursday was a beautiful day for travel in spite of the cold. My husband has mellowed a bit over the years so that we no longer begin a long trip before daybreak! We actually took time to eat breakfast at the motel and leave AFTER sunrise--well, about 8:00. Rather than stop to stretch legs and take a break every couple of hours as travelers are cautioned to do, we drive until someone MUST take a potty break, or it's time to eat, or put gas in the tank. That got us home by 5:30.
You know the routine--unload, unpack, start the clothes washer, look over the recent mail, visit with the neighbors (Bill's folks who stopped over to say "hi"), shower or relax in the jetted tub, and watch a little TV before dropping into our own select comfort bed.
Forget it! No chance to sleep late! I was to pick up Bill at his office at 11:00 Friday morning so we could drive to Effingham where he had a 2:30 district meeting for the church plus a 5:30 dinner & meeting to which I was also invited. Then today was the District Ministers' and Spouses' Christmas Dinner which he must attend since his accounting firm is the district treasurer. So after he left for the office, I re-packed for this overnight trip.
I needed to make two stops before picking him up, the most important being a stop to see the grandkids that I hadn't seen for nearly 3 weeks. How gratifying to have Creed run to my arms and give me several squeezes! Kady has always been a bit hesitant to run to me but seems to wait for an invitation which is my outstretched arms. They pulled me from room to room to see their Christmas trees and all the decorations. They are really excited about it this year. What a joy they are!
Below are some of the Christmas decorations at the Hilton Garden Inn where the district Christmas dinner was held. I should have someone so creative to decorate my house!
A life-sized nativity scene
Two of the several trees in the convention center
I loved this lantern and wreath!
The following are photos, not of decorations but of some good people in attendance at this annual event.
