It was mid-morning when our little bus started down the canyon for home. The route chosen was I-25 north to I-80 east--mainly so that we could stop at Cabela's in Sidney, NE, to shop for some specific items asked for by parents for Christmas! Yes, really! However, I must tell you that it was not MY idea--it was Bill's idea. The more amazing fact is that we were there for TWO HOURS! For real.
Another fact that needs mentioning is this: half of the items we bought were discounted big time. The last fact: most of the trip north on I-25 was very snowy to the point that it was difficult to see much ahead, though you would have tho't it was bone dry and sunny by the way the truckers passed us! After a few miles on I-80 east we ran out of the snow. Thank the Lord!
By 6:30 (and after losing an hour by entering CST zone) we were in Kearney, NE, and exhausted--Bill from the driving and I from only 3 hours' sleep last night. I always have trouble getting my mind and body to settle down the night before any "out-of-my-routine" days: a big day of travel, hosting a crowd at home, being a sub at school, you name it. Anyway, we checked in to the same motel where we stayed on the way west two weeks ago; it was so clean and had such comfy beds. We've had our showers and Dominos pizza and are catching a bit of TV before turning out the lights. Home tomorrow!
