Keeping Us on Our Knees

Here I am again--we're at Bob & Melanie's who have wireless. This has been quite a week! Norm had his heart cath on Tuesday; it showed several blockages two of which were 100%. Since he was in the VA hospital where they don't do heart surgery, he had to wait for a room at Barnes. He was moved there on Wednesday or Thursday, kept off food until they could do a carotid test (to ensure that he didn't have a stroke during surgery), and into a six-hour open heart surgery at 2:30 Friday afternoon. The surgery went fine and he was sitting up a bit today. Mom went home to get more of her meds and additional clothes; she will return to St. Louis on Monday.

On Thursday morning I had driven to Melanie's to help her with the house before ten people piled in for the weekend. That same morning Mom S. went to the doctor with some kind of symptoms. He found that her blood enzymes were too high as was her blood pressure. He sent her to Memorial because he felt she was a prime candidate for a heart attack. Bill skipped a church board meeting to go to the hospital with his folks. Chris was to pick him up there IF Mom was stable. Her enzymes were back to normal, so he came on to Melanie's for the weekend.

While we were waiting to hear about Norm's surgery, Mom's enzymes went high again, so they did a heart cath this afternoon. Her heart is fine! Praise the Lord! They will do other tests to find the cause of her symptoms. Two wonderful answers to prayer. Now . . . we continue to pray for Melanie and her struggle with MS.
