In Southern Colorado, Day 4

We all slept later than usual and took our time getting around this morning. After all, we're on vacation, as Becky reminds us. After a continental breakfast here, we unhooked trailers and rode south to Ouray and over Red Mountain Pass to Silverton after stopping in Ridgeway to fill with gas at $4.19 a gallon. It has been interesting to note gas prices on this trip. In MO and KS we found prices from $3.85 to $3.59, but in CO we've found the prices above $3.85.

There was the ever-present road work being done on the way to Silverton, but there was no gravel, dirt, or mud to navigate. We did get a few sprinkles on us just as we got into town. Since it was passed noon, we had bowls of chili at the Brown Bear Cafe before doing a bit of shopping. No one bought anything except John. My favorite part of this excursion is the ride over here.

You will see why in the pictures that follow.

Back in Montrose, we decided on our own sandwiches, etc. for supper. That's what is taking place in the picture below. Bill's cold (which he took the day before we left home) is getting better, but he was beat after supper. John and Becky went to the hot tub in the courtyard. We rested, watched TV, blogged, and were generally lazy. We've planned our next two days and have made motel reservations in Glenwood Springs and Winter Park.
