I Told You So!

In my first blog, I mentioned my habit of procrastination. That was two months ago and this is only my third blog! See what I mean? And isn't it interesting that I have gotten to this site only while being lazy in Colorado? H-m-m.

Yes, we are back in this beautiful place. This time we rode our Gold Wing out here. Our friends, the Davises, were on their Gold Wing trike while we rode our new two-wheeler. (Bill totaled our '97 last year when a big dog ran out in front of him.) In late afternoon on the second day, we rode into a cold rain and decided we'd had enough of waiting on storms and riding in rain. So we stayed overnight just 100 miles from our destination. A one-and-three-quarters' day trip turned into two-and-a-half. But the sunny ride on that third morning was worth the delay. The sun was warm on us, the canyon scenery was awesome as always, and the Big Thompson was rolling high, fast, and loud!

The Davises stayed with us for just over a week; the name of the game was fun and laughs. We certainly had those! Some of the stuff that was enjoyed were the trip up on Trail Ridge Road, shopping in Loveland, eating Quizno's yummy sandwiches, playing table games in the evening, attending the Wesleyan Church, walking the river walk (and rewarding ourselves with DQ), fly-fishing, and traveling to Cheyenne, WY, for supper and visit with Bill & Jill Bergman and kids.

On the weekend that they left for home, Hubby and I were too lonesome (and the condo too quiet) to stay here; therefore, we went to the Wool Market that is held at the fairgrounds here every year. Secretly, I was thinking, "Boring!", but off we went. It was really interesting to see the alpacas, llamas, sheep, rabbits, goats that were there for sale or judging or performing. I never realized when Gpa F. had his sheep that there were SO MANY different breeds. Some were huge! Nor did I realize that there were other colors besides black and white. Same with the other animals. There were sheep shearing contests, dog herding contests, etc.

The vendor barn was the best, though. Wow! You could drop lots of coin there! Besides the weaving equipment and other utensils, there were scarves, capes, shawls, jackets, hats, handbags, slippers, boots, gloves, sheepskins, dusting wands--oh, my--so much stuff. I did see a handbag that was so cute and so convenient. It could be worn over the shoulder or across the chest or around the waist. It was just the right size and priced at only $325. Let's see . . . how much groceries or gas or paper supplies or clothing or whatever could we buy for that amount? H-m-m. No kidding, people. It really was interesting, and the parking lot was crammed--both days of the event. This is a beg deal here. I talked to a vendor from Columbia, MO. Sorry, no pictures. I didn't take the camera! I tho't it would be BORING.

On Sunday after church, we went window shopping in Longmont. If you've been to the condo, you know that the afternoon-evening sun glares through the high window in the LR and makes a nuisance of itself during supper in the DR and is too bright in the loft. We were looking at possibilities of covering it at those times but being able to reach to uncover it of mornings so we can see the mtns. We think we have it figured out. My daughter also had a couple of ideas--about the window as well as what to do during mealtime. I also looked at some possible future purchases for our home in IL.

This week is a week of hubby working in his loft office and my being on the computer or with my nose in a book. Yes, of course, I make the bed, cook, launder, straighten up, do a few dishes, but I don't want to overdo it, you know. Last night after supper, we went to walk the river walk (again rewarding ourselves at DQ) and then listened awhile to the western singers in the park across the street. Probably there were about 70-100 people standing or who had brought lawn chairs or blankets to sit on. A very nice community event.

Wow, sounds like you have a busy week of housework. Yuck. I do hope you drag dad away from his work and do something fun! Glad you have joined the blogging world. Be careful, it can be addictive!
