The retired life is much different than the working-away-from-home life. Someone defined retirement as "doing very little, slowly"; I think that aptly describes what I am experiencing.
After teaching high school students for 35 years, I was more than ready to close the door on that part of my life. Now my time is spent taking care of house, reading, using the computer, studying for my Sunday School class, being with my grandchildren, and hanging out in "colorful Colorado." My husband and I have three wonderful children (with wonderful spouses) and seven outstanding grandchildren.
