Brisket and Pie!

Brisket! Done to perfection. (Cut-it-with-a-fork and melt-in-your-mouth tender) Catfish fritters! Mounded on the plate and perfect. Rock slide pie! Absolutely yummy. (Cream cheese mixed with chocolate pudding, dream whip, drizzled with chocolate and caramel) Each dinner ordered could have fed two adults. Everyone came away with take-home boxes; tomorrow's lunch!

Since today was my mother-in-law's birthday, all three of her children and children-in-law took them (couldn't leave Dad S. at home!) to supper at the Riverdock restaurant south of here. The place was quiet enough for pleasant conversation since it was a week night rather than a weekend when the place is usually crowded. It had been a long while since we'd eaten there, so I had forgotten how delicious and how generous the portions are. We were all stuffed.

The only reason we know how the pie tasted is that one piece (sampled by all eight of us) served as Mom S.'s birthday cake. Our server told us that Augie Busch has in the past sent someone to this place to pick up a whole Rock slide pie or two for him. I volunteered to make the trip for a couple of these to have for our Christmas dinner at the inlaws' this year.

Brisket was tonight's special and included a huge baked potato, green beans, and large dinner salad, all for $11.59. As I said, it was enough for two meals. Highly recommended for a good place to eat. Sorry about the raving--I had not eaten all day!
